The Riddle Cottage. This historic lake house was built by D. W. Riddle at the turn of the last century. He originally came to the Adirondack Mountains seeking better health and ended up managing the Saranac Inn resort for over 25 years. In its heyday the hotel and lakeside cottages housed up to 1000 guests. During the Great Depression many resorts fell on hard times and this was no exception. The Inn suffered through several tough years and finally closed in 1962. Ultimately much of the property was auctioned off, resold or demolished. Just a few of the original cottages remain. This is certainly the most prominent. The house itself has over 4700 square feet of living area spread
